3 Tips for Easy Healthy Living

As we jump into Fall and before the whirlwind of the holidays is upon us, I think it’s a great time to focus on returning to easy, healthy habits that can carry you through the holiday season.

Here is what I am focusing on:

  1. A Body-Positive Mindset

Loving my body, being grateful for all it does, being kind to it, showing it compassion for all it has done, and believing that I can be the healthiest version of myself at any age and any stage of life! I’m a huge fan of body positivity being the first step on any long term health journey and lately I’ve been wavering… so it’s back up top!

      2. Good for me foods and indulgent foods

I’m prioritizing good for me food, but not demonizing ANY food. I focus on eating a lot of healthy foods like vegetables, whole grains, legumes and healthy fats and only indulging if I am going to truly enjoy that indulgence- 100% guilt free. Believe it or not, how you feel about what you eat influences how your body processes the food… feel bad/guilt/shame and your body will hold onto more… feel happy/grateful and your body will metabolize the food better. So eat that ice cream and enjoy every bite or leave it alone!!

      3. Lifting heavy…

If you follow me over on IG you may have seen my new goal of hitting the gym every Sunday. This is big, because I haven’t gone to the gym in about 8 months. There is mounting evidence that shows the importance of lifting heavy weight  for women in their 40s. When I lift at home, which I have done for quite awhile, I max out at 8lbs dumbbells ~ not heavy.  Fortunately, I used to lift at the gym 2-3x per week for close to 15 years, up until I had my girls. So it feels good to get back to the gym and feel my muscles burn… even though my low intensity living spirit is not so keen. The motivator now is the incredible endorphin high after each session!  With the holidays around the corner, now is a great time to boost some of those healthy habits!
